Genuinely and Deeply Inspired.

When coming into contact with Hope I knew she would be a great addition, and first artist, to be featured here on this page. Her heart is gentle, passionate, and steady. I know this because of the beautiful pieces she has kindly sent to show you as well.

She has found her niche in the world of watercolor, and has developed beautifully in the relationship with this medium. Hope is self-taught, except for the one art class gifted to her to bring different perspectives, but mainly relies on basic principles to communicate the creativity she possesses.

As artists, creatives, or observers we all tend to lean toward a certain theme that we feel naturally enhances the story we want to communicate. For Hope, her inspiration comes from the raw beauty that surrounds her. It's obvious she is tuned into the energy and flow that life has to offer. Not only this, but the choices she has made in her personal life she wants to reflect in her pieces. Her love for nature, the simple things, for God- she has a strong desire to show honor with the talents and gifts she has been equipped with in this life.

And as artists or creatives, we hope to see a sustainable and fulfilling life that originates from the pieces we create. Thankfully, Hope has taken initiative in this area. She not only is an artist, but has the mindset and unconditional support to create her own path for selling prints of her pieces [please see contact information below]. I encourage you to take your time walking through this gallery, to get in touch with visual, technical, and meanings of her paintings.

When initially discussing the opportunity to be a featured artist, she responded to one of my questions with a hurdle that most creatives tend to struggle with. "I struggle with people wanting to like my art, and if they don't, it feels personal."

Oh, yes. The feeling of building up courage to vulnerably put yourself out there, your raw emotions and thought processes in the form you have found best does so, only to find a eyes and comments of critique and judgement against your creation is very personal. This is a hard lesson I have learned to walk through only to come to this conclusion. My responsibility as an artist is to not create for the approval of others. My responsibility as an artist is to put my ideas, thoughts, and emotions out in the world. Period.

This is for two reasons. The first, it is very selfish for a creative to not contribute to the community, society, or culture they have landed in. People are born on purpose for a purpose. As creatives, it is our responsibility to contribute the best we know how on purpose for that purpose you are searching for. My second reason is more personal. When the artist creates, the artist communicates. 'A picture that expresses a thousand words' is sometimes more beneficial for the artist than actually expressing a thousand words. Words are hard sometimes, and creating can be even harder, but in harmony the artist is not left confused, misguided, or astray when able to open the bottle and let everything out.

The last piece featured for this post is caring and warm. Hope values the relationships she has with family members, friends, and others. She has taken inspiration, talent, and love to beautifully design thoughtful cards to write personalized encouraging words to those she comes in contact with. This has personally allows her to slow down, share gratitude, and experience the present moment by sharing a piece of her to uplift another through her art.

"I want people to enjoy my art and be inspired by my creativity. I also want my audience to be inspired to appreciate the little things in life- to find the beauty in the everyday. The beauty that God made for us to enjoy." - Hope Richards
