Caught in the field before the journey.

The Calling.
If you are not familiar with Michelangelo's 'David' sculpture, it is one for the soul to see. I pulled inspiration out of the pure motive that I have been drained as an artist. I have felt for so long that I needed a structured project to challenge my uneducated abilities in painting, to train my mind and my hands. I needed to feel accomplished as an artist because for so long I have felt defeated, to the point I almost called quits on painting entirely.
Have you ever felt destined for something so beyond yourself? That one thing you can't identify, or even explain because you have no inclination to what, but you know. Undeniably know in the depths of your humanity called to something. I have asked myself while it seems I am in the field of this life, while nothing is externally changing or happening, am I patient enough to grow? I know that I do not know. No answers, no grand path to navigate. This all seems very pessimistic to say, but it is the truth of where I am in my life, but I do know I am called to something. And that something is about to happen.

The Anointing.
If you are familiar with the beginning of David's story, the beginning of his life, you know that he was called in from the field. That is the same field where he learned to hunt, protect the sheep, and grow through solitude and meditation. There is blessing in the field because it prepares one for the path to reign over the calling. Once you are called the next step is anointing. This act of ordaining is not decided by the ordained in time or place. I believe when David was walking home, in from the field, it was going to be another conversation with his father and brothers. Instead, his routine was interrupted with a priest who had a message of destiny.
David was no in terms qualified to rule a nation, but that did not stop the predetermination of his life from unfolding, he was born for it. Life from the field, to the house, to the throne is a journey we all undertake. We are all destined for greatness beyond ourselves, and it is up to us when we realize that fact. Some take longer than others, but our journey is our own. I can say when David was anointed he wasn't shipped off to the palace to rule. He became skilled in his craft as a musician and a warrior. His path was a fight, but blessed.

The Journey.
This is where my frustration is rooted. Caught in the field post-calling and pre-anointing. Or even anointed, but not in the palace as ignorant as that sounds. In my nature I want the palace, I want the flourishing gift of destination but, like David, I have to fight for it. I have to fight with the calling and the power of anointing to receive the promised land destined for me. I believe when I tap into that understanding there is a peace that surpasses all understanding, or even lack thereof. My journey is my own. I have different demons and deserts I have to fight, but the journey is blessed and continuously being prepared for me.
I have the confidence of knowing the land or the kingdom is already mine. I am not fighting for victory, but from victory and that is a very strong place to be. Let me ask you, are you called? Are you anointed? Are you fighting? Be encouraged that your journey is recognized and blessed- that it is for you and not against you, now what harm can happen against you?
